Two Jamaican born Philadelphia based businessmen Michael Clarke and Dave Grant are bringing back the mellow feelings of the golden age of Jamaican music to Philadelphia in the form of a Sunday night event dubbed as REWIND.
Steele is known for consistently delivering solid music. This is evident with his extensive catalog and the many awards he has received over the years. The energetic performer/singer/songwriter has seen his fan base grow over the years and he continues to be one of the most requested Canadian Reggae acts. The first single from his upcoming CD date of release to be announced is entitled “WHAT DOES A WOMAN WANT?”
After eyeing Trinidad and Tobago’s musical landscape for “quite some time” VP Records through its sub label VP Associated Label (VPAL) has embarked on initiatives to provide distribution services for Trinidad and Tobago producers, label operators and artistes. Since VPAL’s launch in 2009, the indie sub-label has partnered and continues to partner with numerous artistes and producers throughout the world. Its main focus is to provide small label operators, producers and independent artistes access to diverse markets through distribution opportunities.
Soca’s superwoman Nadia Batson gets real on her sixth full-length studio effort Real, now available worldwide from all major digital retailers (released February 19, 2016). Born in Tunapuna and based in Arima in Trinidad and Tobago, Real marks Batson’s prolific 10-year anniversary in the soca music industry, during which she has carved an unprecedented niche for herself as a bonafide triple-threat, simultaneously donning the songwriter, performer and producer hats that catapulted her as the ultimate femme fetale in Caribbean music. Internationally acclaimed Hip Hop artist Stic of dead prez continues to expound on the meaning behind dead prez’ smash hit and philosophy “Bigger than Hip Hop” with the launch of his new record label, RBG FIT records, dedicated to establishing and curating a new genre of hip hop, which emphasizes healthy living, dubbed “Fit-Hop”.
Twin of Twins, Jamaican artists and comedians, who are known for releasing light hearted songs have done the unexpected in their latest video. In it, they feature the dancehall king, Beenie Man, trending young artist, Jahmiel and several other actors and actresses. In an attempt to give the right visual to their single, “shoes like mine,” Twin of Twins, Dann-I and the team deal with the issues of poverty, rape and overall hardship.
