He holds strong with “God Inna Mi Corner” and weeds out fake friends on “Fade Away” featuring dancehall artist Assassin. While showcasing his dee-jay skills on the EDM-tinged reggae track “Badder Man,” he reveals the gripping realities of a rudeboy and opts for a different way of life. “I don’t mix up with da criminal dem, me a gwan stick to mi gal dem. I don’t care who a buss this, who a buss that, me don’t want no strap,” as he sings in the song’s closing lyrics.

To pay homage to his ladies, Virgo then offers a few ballads on his EP – including his latest romancer “Stars Across The Sky,” his Sam Smith cover of “Stay With Me” (which recieved over 2.4 mil YouTube views for its accompanying visual) and ” Soul Provider” (racking in nearly 4 mil YouTube video views). This will give listeners a feel of his 2016 album entitled Love Sick (VP Records), which is a heartfelt collection mostly comprised of love songs.

Lifted follows his critically acclaimed 2012 album The System, which was described as “striking” (Washington Post), “high-quality” (BBC) and “smooth and engaging” (New York Times). Billboard also proclaimed he has “empowering messages over misogynistic and violent lyrics, intricately textured one-drop rhythms instead of frenetic digital beats” and he has “found an appreciative, multi-generational audience.”

Barrington “Barry G” Gordon

On Saturday, November 28, 2015, Caribbean entertainment specialists Irish and Chin, in conjunction with Irie Jam Radio, will present David “Ram Jam” Rodigan and Barrington “Barry G” Gordon’s 30th Anniversary at the plush Resorts World Casino in Queens, New York.  Sponsored by Western Union, the event commemorates the 30th Anniversary of the legendary David Rodigan and Barry G’s famed on-air sound clashes.

Two of the best to ever do it will deliver an unforgettable evening of divine Reggae music, fun and slice of an unprecedented era in Jamaican music and culture. As U.S. appearances from David Rodigan and Barry G are rare, there is overwhelming momentum for the 30th Anniversary and endorsement from the overall Caribbean market. Moreover, it’s been nearly 4 years since David Rodigan last performed in the U.S. and just as long for Barry G.

David Rodigan

Both masters of their craft, the pioneering DJs brought sound clash to radio via a series of historical on-air clashes in 1985. Prior to this, sound clash, a cornerstone of Jamaican music and culture, was reserved for lawns and venues. The two wowed scores of listeners and captivated the island with their on-air sparring, making history all-the-while. The clashes were a phenomenon, officially locking down Rodigan’s Jamaican fan base. Technically, David Rodigan is one of the first “non-Jamaican” selectors to be whole-heartedly embraced by Reggae music fans. At the time of the clashes, David Rodigan was a well-respected radio personality on UK’s Capitol Radio, while the uber-talented Barry G was on Jamaica’s famed JBC Radio.

Adding to the already buzzing combo of the David Rodigan and Barry G reunion, is music from top Stone Love selector Rory. Without question, Rory will capitalize on his well channeled years of experience and music knowledge to entertain the massive crowd. Ninja of Mighty Crown will bring fans from the past to the present with an impressive array of selections. The highly anticipated night will be musically balanced, offering all in attendance a night to remember.

Jim Kelly’s Bio – Jamaican Reggae/Dancehall Artist (@jimkelly_real)

00-jim kelly

Jim Kelly

Jamaican artist, Jim Junior Hosang, more popularly known as Jim Kelly, is intent on making his mark on the Reggae/Dancehall scene. Hailing from Christiana, Manchester, this young man has been dabbling with music since 2006. He made his first mark as a song writer, penning lyrics for popular Dancehall artist, Mad Anju, while simultaneously producing tracks for him, Mr. Pepper, Kalado, Egg Nogg and others on his then;  Board House Record Label.

When the opportunity presented itself, Jim began to invest in, and manage Kalado. He played the role of investor/manager for approximately three years, but then began to pursue a career as an artist himself. He received a lot of encouragement from his eight year old daughter who said; “Dad why don’t you go back to doing music and be the artist because you actually sound good?” Further encouragement came from producer J Canon, of J Canon Records, who told him “he has a good voice so he could do it.”

Two years later, Jim and his cousin, Dwain Robinson, changed the name of their record label from Board House to Real Linx and began carving out a position for Jim Kelly in the Jamaican music industry. He recorded several songs, the first of which was a collaboration with Kalado, titled; “on and on.” Though the record did not catapult Jim into the mainstream, it gave him some much needed attention from key players who began to notice his writing skills and professionalism. The second release was a hardcore Dancehall song called “nuh trust nobody,” featuring another young artist, Bastic. Upon its release, “nuh trust nobody” immediately gained traction and began to get steady rotation at most of the major street dances. It opened several doors for Jim who invested heavily in its promotion. Jim Kelly recently dropped another song, this one with singer Kamsha Morris, and already he is getting positive feedback from music critics.

When he is not recording and promoting music, Jim stays busy by doing vocal training at the Edna Manley School for the Arts (located in Kingston, Jamaica). He also spends a lot of time with his children.
