DA COUNSELLOR’s Biography (@dacounsellor4)

00-counsellor1Oral Robinson, professionally known as Da Counsellor, was born on the 26th of April 1969. He grew up in Race Course, which is located in Grange Hill, Westmoreland with his mother, three brothers and three sisters. His father died when he was three years old. Da Counsellor’s love for music came from a form of genetic transition as he is the nephew of the late Jacob “Killer” Miller. Therefore music was embedded in his heart and soul.

Da Counsellor is a singer, a DJ, a songwriter, a music producer and a contractor. His belief is that the true beauty of music is that it connects people, it carries a message and musicians are the messengers. Da Counsellor is a God-fearing person who centres his music on Biblical perspectives and social phenomenon that can uplift, inspire and motivate ones way of life. That is why he is called Da Counsellor.

Music was not his only passion as he also has a love for construction. Since his youth, Da Counsellor was very knowledgeable about the difficulties involved in breaking into the music industry. He resolved at an early age, to not put all his eggs in one basket, so to speak, instead, he focused simultaneously on his job as construction worker and his career as a recording artist.

Upon leaving high school, Da Counsellor knew that he had to do something in order to generate income for his dreams to become a reality. Hence, his second passion of construction work came into play. At age 16 he worked at construction sites in Westmoreland and neighbouring parishes. Da Counsellor is an optimistic individual and it is said that optimism is the faith that leads to achievement and that nothing can be done without hope and confidence. At the age of 19 Da Counsellor save the money he had earned and bought a plane ticket to The Cayman Island where he hoped to find more consistent work. He did not get a job there at the time and so he ended returning to Jamaica. Not being one to give up, he soon tried looking for work in Panama and Curacao before going back to The Cayman Island where he did eventually get a good job. He currently travels back and forth between Jamaica and The Cayman Island where he is now a permanent resident.

Working in The Cayman Island, Da Counsellor was able to acquire the money needed to set in motion his dreams of becoming a recording artiste. In 2001 he went to the United States and did the Recordings for his first album which was entitled “God A De Number One”. It got good radio rotation in both Jamaica and The Grand Cayman. From there his musical journey started; he did shows in the United States, The Cayman Island and Jamaica. Although his musical career started to excel, he never gave up his second passion of construction work. He manages to balance both of them equally.

Currently Da Counsellor is working on releasing a new album entitled “You Going To Lose,” which he produced himself. The album features a collaboration with iconic Dancehall/Gospel artist Lieutenant Stitchie. A video was done for the title song “You Going To Lose” which was shot and edited by Jermaine Edwards . The tile of the album “You going to Lose” speaks of how men ought to treat there wife, which is of a respectable, loving and caring manner. If they fail to do so as the title suggest they are going to lose.

The Full Story Behind Busy Signal’s Recent Arrest In Trinidad (@busysignal_turf)

Busy Signal

Reggae and Dancehall Superstar Busy Signal was arrested in Trinidad & Tobago on Saturday July 4th, 2015 over an outstanding contract with his former management company, Jukeboxx Productions.

Unaware that there was an outstanding financial issue, Busy Signal traveled to the twin republic of Trinidad & Tobago to perform at TAO (Together As One) at Queen’s Park in Port of Spain for which he was billed as the headlining artist. Prior to arriving at the venue, the artist was arrested at his hotel, and appeared in court alongside attorney Fareed Ali.

The information presented in court made it clear that Jukeboxx Productions entered in to an agreement with Peppers Entertainment for Busy Signal to perform at the scheduled event. The event was subsequently canceled so Busy Signal, real name Reanno Gordon, and his new management team, agreed to refund the promoter $15,000 USD, in addition to payment made when the show was initially cancelled.

Of the situation Galey Gordon, Busy’s Manager, said “The advance payment of $37,088 USD was not disclosed to us [Turf Music Entertainment] by former management who entered in to business affairs on Busy’s behalf. We had no material knowledge whatsoever of this apparent infraction. If we had, we would have acted to resolve the issue prior to coming to Trinidad.”

Turf Music Entertainment is currently requesting a copy of the original agreement between Jukeboxx Productions and Peppers Entertainment as well as transaction records between both parties regarding the event.

After reaching a mutual resolve, Busy Signal performed to an eager crowd at Queen’s Park, closing the show.

Music Fans Reacts Positively To Warrior King’s Stage Performance (@Warriorking9)

Warrior King performing in Europe

One of the secrets to a successful career in show business is the degree of care and respect that the artiste shows for the main body of people who can make or break his concert – the audience. And reggae singer Warrior King is only too well aware of this. So much so that his manager, Mark Miller, the man who was also reggae icon Bob Marley’s stage manager and ex-Wailers Band business manager, has had huge words of praise for Warrior King’s treatment of his audience.

Speaking about the just-concluded tour of Europe, Miller noted, “The reaction from the music fans to Warrior King has been absolutely phenomenal. Everywhere we performed on this run had people singing along with the Warrior King tracks, encouraging King in his performance, and letting us know how much they love their hero, Warrior King. His command of the stage and the audience is amazing. Not since I worked with Bob Marley have I seen an artiste who cares as much as King about his audience.”

However, as Warrior King pointed out, “it’s just a natural flow”. He added, “I have to let every person in that audience know how grateful I am that they chose to spend their hard-earned euro/dollar to pay for a ticket to see me perform. When you stand on stage and look out and see a sea of people, it is a humbling experience. Not everybody out there came to see me, but they all bought a ticket to see an entertainer. They could have spent their money on something else. So I have to give thanks and give the best show that I can possible give every single time I hold a mic and jump on a stage.”

00-bob_marley_60.The tour, which kicked off on June 12, included stops in France. Austria, Germany and the UK and although all the dates went well, Warrior King and his team have extra special memories of the Rast’Art Festival in Normandy, France. “It was absolutely fantastic!” they all agree of the festival at which the ‘roots warrior’ was making his debut appearance.

“We send out our love and thanks to every single music fan in Europe and also people like Aurel and Chloe at Rast’

Art; Maurits in Amsterdam; Bantam in Berlin; Kingsley in Hamburg and everyone else we can’t think of to name right now!” a very happy Warrior King said.

Meanwhile, the singer is reportedly working furiously on putting the finishing touches to his upcoming album, entitled Rootz Warrior. “Owing to the fact that so many people want to see him perform, we’ve had to take it a step at a time in between our touring activities. However, the album ‘soon come’ and will surprise many people,” declared Miller, who is also the author of the book “On the Road with Bob Marley”.
