OVA MI DEAD BODY WAS SIMPLY AMAZING!

Paul Beales latest installment, “ova mi dead body” was simply amazing! The play which features Andrea “Delcita” Wright and Garfield “Bad Boy Trevor” Reid, was well written and well executed.

The play opened at the Green Gables theatre in Kingston on Friday December 17th, and even though I was not able to see it until Sunday, the 19th, I got confirmation from others that the two opening nights had a very good turn out. Sunday was no different, people came out in numbers and the 5pm show was almost sold out. Looking around the theatre, I only saw about two at most, three empty seats. The staff and crew at Green Gables were very professional. The show started exactly 5:03pm, and aside from a few minor glitches that only a technical person would notice, the sound and lighting were perfect.

Without giving too much away, the play was about in-laws, trust, or the lack thereof, and property. It was hilarious. Bad Boy Trevor played the role of a secretive elderly man who cared more about what he can get from his family, than his actual family, while Delcita played the role of, “a practical woman” with four kids and no man. Other characters were “Stamma”, played by Stede Flash, “Mildred”, played by Belinda Reid, “Melcita”, played by Trudy Bell, and “Mr. Sharp”, played by Donald Thompson. The entire play was approximately two and half-hours with a fifteen minutes intermission.

If I had to rate this play on a scale of 1-10, I would give it a whopping 10. I strongly recommend that anyone who gets the opportunity to see this play, take advantage of it.
